Multiple textures

I have had a few different people ask me how to texture with multiple textures. So here is your answer.

Open SketchUp, I am going to create a cube with multiple textures just as an example. Remember before starting to create your object, use the placement boundaries, click “plugins>rct3>placement>[then the tile size]”.

Step1: You can now start to draw your object. First up I am going to draw
the bottom of the cube, now I draw a 4m X 4m square in the placement boundaries. Note: if you use the placement boundaries correctly the blue axis should go straight in the middle of your object (see below).

I will then extrude this object to 4m as to make it a cube (see below).

Now we must texture.

I will need to add the correct texture to each face, click “file>import” a new window will open, from this locate one of your textures, then select 'ok'. Now click on the corner of a face and select the opposite corner to add the texture. Repeat this for all required textures.

Now we need to group the faces with the same texture. In my case every face has a different texture. So I double click a face, then I “right click>make group”. I repeat this for all faces. If you have two or more faces with the same texture hold ‘shift’ and double click the faces with the same texture and then group them. An important thing to remember is that you do not need to group everything together to export, you can have heaps of groups with only one model in the game. Basically leave your model with multiple groups then you can export, when you add this to the importer you will notice that these groups will all load under the one model but you can assign the correct texture to each group.

I hope this tutorial solves your texturing problems.
